Measure CL trailing in early results

It's still early but the numbers aren't looking good for Measure CL, the $95 million school bond. Here's what we have so far from the LA County Registrar/County Clerk.

MEASURE CL Votes Percent
CL - SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT BONDS - YES 1,059 39.25
NO 1,639 60.75
Registration 24,617
Precincts Reporting 8
Total Precincts 35

  1. Measure CL deserved to be defeated, and at the end of the day it was. The voters of Claremont got it right, 60% to 40%. It was a rout. I wonder about the disconnect between the people of this town and the self-selected, self-appointed and self-perpetuating inbred elite: In the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce, a bunch of non-profit and public agency retreads; the League of Women Voters, a rabidly left-wing and partisan cabal with only the thinnest and mostly worn-away patina of objectivity and honesty; and Sustainable Claremont, a City-formed organization that stupidly strayed far from its charter and is not to be respected. We have scotched the snake, not killed it.
