Residents
were mailed sample ballots last week for the city of Claremont’s upcoming
election, to be held on Tuesday, March 5. Three candidates are running for 2
open seats on city council: Michael Keenan and incumbents Corey Calaycay and
Larry Schroeder.
Sample Ballots are available in English, Spanish,
Vietnamese, Chinese and Hindi and may be viewed on the city’s website at at
www.lavote.net. To vote in the election, Claremont residents must be registered
by February 19.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. on March 5 and close at 8
p.m., at which time ballot tabulation will begin in the City Council Chamber,
225 W. Second St. Voters may request vote-by-mail ballots through Tuesday, February 26.
Claremont voters will have the opportunity to meet
the candidates and hear more about their campaigns at a candidates forum to be held
on Saturday, February 23, at 11 a.m. in the Padua Room of the Hughes Center,
