Claremont City Council meeting tonight

Claremont City Council will hold its first regular meeting of 2012 tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

The council will discuss charges pressed against the city by its police officers at a special closed session prior to the meeting. The Claremont Police Officer’s Association filed a complaint against the city of Claremont and the Claremont Chamber of Commerce claiming its First and Fourteenth Amendment rights were violated at this year’s Village Venture. The full story can be seen in last Saturday's (January 7) issue of the COURIER.

Those wishing to comment on closed session items should arrive at 5:15 p.m. The council will hear public comment before recessing into its private meeting.

Items slated for open session include discussion of a timeline for revising the city's sustainability plan, dissolving its redevelopment agency (see Wednesday, January 4 edition of the COURIER for full story), and amendments to the city's camping ordinance.
