Local artists, architects to be recognized at annual Heritage fundraiser

Later this month, Claremont Heritage takes a journey back into the jazz era for the historical society's annual fundraiser—this year themed around the world of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. The 1920s-inspired affair takes place at the Garner House on Saturday, June 29 from 6 to 10 p.m.
In addition to the jazz and general merriment at this year's "Gatsby at the Garner," Claremont Heritage will confer the Bess Garner Historic Preservation Award as well as the Cultural Heritage Award.
The architects of The Tucker Schoeman Venture were recently announced as the winners of this year's Bess Garner preservation honor. They are being recognized for their work to preseve historic homes and the repurpose of historic buildings.
Artist Paul Darrow will be honored with the Cultural Heritage Award for his artistic contributions throughout the community.
The Claremont Heritage board will bestow a special Lifetime Achievement Award upon architect Rufus L.Turner for his contribution to Claremont’s built environment over the span of nearly 50 years.
Tickets for Gatsby at the Garner are $90 for Heritage members or $100 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.claremontheritage.org.
